This appendix compiles the contextual information underpinning the three reports under the Indonesia’s Green Industrialization project, funded by Yayasan Visi Indonesia Raya Emisi Nol Bersih (ViriyaENB).
On energy, it covers supply and demand, electricity generation across the archipelago’s separate grids, renewable energy potential and its low utilization rates, the institutional and policy frameworks governing the sector, grid interconnection, and shared use of power infrastructure.
On minerals, it covers nickel deposits, demand trends, and the two dominant processing routes—rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) and high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL)—with their energy, emissions, and environmental profiles; the industrial parks where most processing occurs, including Morowali (IMIP) and Weda Bay (IWIP); and regional and external developments.
