CCSI hosted an insightful panel discussion as we delved into the transformative REPowerEU strategy and its implications for Europe’s energy landscape. Reducing the reliance on natural gas, accelerating the clean energy transition, and enhancing preparedness in the wake of supply disruptions has become a priority for the European Union. What are the potential implications of the Council’s agreement on “overriding public interest” of renewable energy plants? Is the European Commission potentially rushing into energy market reforms over the expansion of renewable energy? Is Europe using natural gas as a way of avoiding the difficult long-term decisions that need to be made to move towards a net zero energy mix?
Our conversation centered around market interventions, renewable project permits, and their alignment with the ambitious EU green deal objective.
