CCSI hosted a talk by Prof. Aris Georgopoulos on "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Public Sector Governance: Bellerophon Rising?"

The advent of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) and its transformational potential can have immediate impact on the way in which public sector governance is carried out and on the outcomes of this process. The presentation will cover some preliminary lessons from research funded under the auspices of the British Academy (Innovation Fellowship). Having as point of reference healthcare procurement in the UK -National Health Service (NHS)- and in the EU in the aftermath of COVID19 it highlighted the potential gains, pitfalls and challenges that the purchasing and deployment of Gen AI solutions may have on public governance. Finally, it touched upon certain interesting jurisdictional angles which may inform regulatory choices in this area.
