Circular Economy in Mineral and Renewable Energy Value Chains
The global transition to renewable energy systems will be mineral intensive and, under the current linear economy conditions,...
Aligning mining with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on resource-rich developing economies
The road to zero-carbon energy systems and economies is paved with mineral-intensive technologies. Demand for minerals and metals is projected to increase, presenting challenges as well as opportunities for resource-rich developing economies.
CCSI works to ensure that the mining sector supports long-term sustainable development.

Investments in mining have the potential to transform host economies while being core to a zero-carbon digitized future. CCSI draws on over a decade of mining sector expertise to help stakeholders ensure that the sector is a springboard for sustainable development.
Through longstanding research, training, convening, and advisory work in the sector, CCSI promotes responsible mining investments to maximize lasting benefits and minimize social, environmental, and economic harms. Working with a broad range of stakeholders — governments, international organizations, financial institutions, mining companies and associations, and community groups — to advance sustainable resource-based development strategies across countries and regions.
Our focus includes the evolving challenges and opportunities created by the central role of transition minerals in energy, digital, and other sustainable development transformations while recognizing the potential of embracing circular economy approaches.
