Food systems are both deeply vulnerable to climate change and biodiversity loss, and a major driver of them. However, food systems are still sidelined in major climate, biodiversity, and development efforts. Transforming food systems requires a shift from extractive models toward regenerative approaches that protect biodiversity, build and sustain access to healthy diets, and secure the livelihoods for farmers in the face of climate change.

Transforming food systems toward more regenerative, equitable, and climate- and biodiversity-aligned models hinges on fit-for-purpose financing, and strong cross-sector governance that can turn ambition into action. However, these challenges are still overlooked in climate finance and policy.
