At CCSI, Vishy helps keep the Center’s operations and research functions moving in step. He provides budgeting, grants administration, and other support across the Center’s portfolios, and works alongside the research teams to help translate projects from initial idea to formal proposal. His work focuses on building the internal systems – clear processes, reliable timelines, key resources – that let researchers spend their time on the questions that matter.

Vishy’s background bridges journalism, climate policy research, and research administration. Before joining CCSI, he was Project Coordinator on the MINERALS Project at Columbia’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, where he managed a Moore Foundation grant, coordinated an international research team, and helped launch the observatory’s AI working group. He began his career as a journalist, reporting for AFP and BBC India and publishing more than 400 articles across South Asian and international outlets. He continues to write columns on energy and geopolitics for ORF America and India’s World, with a particular interest in critical minerals, data center energy demand, and the integrity of climate information in an AI-mediated media environment.

Vishy holds an MA from the Columbia Climate School, where he focused on climate policy and finance, and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, where his capstone applied a supply-and-demand model to climate disinformation ecosystems in Russia and the United States. He is a former member of the Columbia University Senate and remains convinced that most energy stories, followed far enough upstream, turn out to be mineral stories.
