Circular Economy in Mineral and Renewable Energy Value Chains
The global transition to renewable energy systems will be mineral intensive and, under the current linear economy conditions,...
We work at the intersection of research and real-world change.
From regional energy planning to investment reform, from classrooms to public platforms, our impact comes from helping people and institutions see connections — and act on them.
Applied Research:
ASEAN is defining a least-cost regional pathway to net zero, building the governance and financing architecture to make it implementable.

With CCSI’s support, the Enhanced ASEAN Power Grid MoU – signed under the ASEAN Secretariat – confirmed the ASEAN Centre for Energy as the regional hub for technical, institutional, and financing coordination, paving the way for multilateral power trading, harmonized grid standards, and joint planning frameworks across borders.
With Man Group, CCSI developed the Climate Allocation Compass (Compass-FRWD)—a framework to guide investors in allocating capital where it most reduces global emissions.

Compass-FRWD measures and redirects capital toward sectors and regions with the largest emissions gaps.
Together with Princeville Capital, CCSI designed a framework that brings scientific precision to venture capital’s climate claims.

The methodology helps VCs quantify avoided emissions, set credible baselines, and screen technologies by sector-specific thresholds aligned with the Paris Agreement.
Tested in Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica, the Coffee SDG Plans framework helps governments, producer associations, and financiers identify shared priorities—what to fund, who should fund it, and how to align public and private mandates.

It offers a model not just for coffee, but for any sector where prosperity depends on collaboration.
Through research, training, and direct government support, CCSI is helping countries rethink their international investment treaties to align with climate and development goals.

In addition to direct technical support to various countries, at the global level, CCSI provides technical and strategic support to developing-country delegations in the UNCITRAL Working Group III reform process.
Our team brings together expertise in law, policy, and finance to rethink how global investment works—and who it works for.

We collaborate with governments, investors, and communities to help shift broken systems toward long-term, equitable impact.
We help develop critical thinkers who can navigate complexity and challenge detrimental narratives. Through courses, workshops, and open-access programs, we connect students and practitioners to apply ideas in real contexts and design solutions that work in practice.
