Co-organized by the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), and the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC), this event featured a panel discussion with civil society, company, investor, and government representatives on the opportunities and challenges for ensuring our future energy system is built on a foundation of trust, community empowerment, and respect for rights. The multi-stakeholder participation featured: government integration of the just transition into climate policies and NDCs and creating enabling conditions for the deployment of rights-respecting renewable energy projects; company human rights policies and practices; investor engagement to advance human rights in their investments and net zero strategies; and civil society and academic studies and resources to evaluate and support rights-respecting renewable energy.
