Columbia Law School, Jerome Greene Hall, Room 102A
CCSI and Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute, along with Rightslink, Columbia Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Columbia Latin American Law Students Association, and SIPA Human Rights Working Group, co-sponsored a talk with Hilal Elver, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food.
Agricultural workers play a critical role in achieving food security and fulfilling the universal human right to adequate food. They are, however, among the most food insecure, facing formidable barriers to the realization of their right to food, often working without labor and employment protections and under dangerous conditions. Elver discussed the rights of agricultural workers on a global scale and her recent report to the United Nations on the matter.
