The EMGP Project network gathered in New York City, on March 16-17, 2017 to share research insights, and discuss the Project’s challenges and opportunities. Participants, experts on international investment, international law, and international business from thirteen countries, also explored cross-cutting themes impacting firms (and research on those firms) across the covered emerging markets. These included:
Debt sustainability of emerging market firms and implications for divestment decisions;
Lack of accurate information on firms’ activities and FDI data more generally;
Opportunities and challenges for emerging market firms to advance sustainable development; and
Whether emerging market home countries do, can, and should support their outward investing firms.
