Creating an Enabling Environment for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (E-Learning)

CCSI partnered with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to develop an e-learning course on creating an enabling environment for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems. The course is freely available, accessible online and available for download. It consists of three parts: 

Creating an Enabling Environment for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems

Part 1 (launched in March 2019): 

  • Provides an overview of the Committee on World Food Security’s Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS-RAI), highlights the features and key players of an enabling environment that promotes responsible investment in agriculture and food security, and unravels the important role that this investment plays in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. 
  • The course is self-instructed and consists of 5 lessons, ranging from 20-50 minutes in duration, and takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
  • The intended audience includes those who engage in creating an enabling environment for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems, particularly members of small-scale producer organizations, members of civil society organizations, government technical staff, policy makers, and parliamentarians.
  • The course is free and open to the public. It can be accessed here in English on FAO’s e-learning platform (users will need to create a free FAO e-learning platform account). The course is also available in French and Spanish.

Part 2 (launched in May 2020):

  • Addresses multi-stakeholder engagement in the design of legal and institutional frameworks that govern investment. These new lessons supplement Part 1 modules by delving further into questions of stakeholder identification, representation, and engagement, and highlighting processes and tools that policymakers can use to identify and address gaps between national frameworks and the CFS-RAI. 
  • The course is self-instructed and consists of 4 lessons, ranging from 15-30 minutes in duration, and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.
  • The intended audience includes those who engage in creating an enabling environment for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems, particularly members of small-scale producer organizations, members of civil society organizations, government technical staff, policy makers, and parliamentarians.
  • It can be accessed here on FAO’s e-learning platform (users will need to create a free FAO e-learning platform account). The course is in English, and a French version will be available soon.
